751 South Bascom Ave. between Moorpark Ave. and Fruitdale Ave., San Jose. Enter main lobby (off Bascom); if necessary, enter thru E.R. and go down hallway to main lobby.Main post: Go left (east) 30 feet to room 1201, "Nursing Staffing Station". This is the main hospital command post. On left (west) wall is "ARES" sticker marking the antenna drop; it has two RG8 cables with PL259 and BNC connectors, but no radio or power supply. One cable is a 2 meter J-pole; the other is a broadband discone antenna intended for the hospital's scanner, but it is suitable for 144 through 1200 MHz transceive.
Note: both these feed lines go first to Room 1207, where they can be coupled to lines that go to the antennas. Then again, they could be disconnected, in order to use radios in Room 1207. Test a line for reception before transmitting into it; to protect your radio, do not transmit if you cannot hear well.
Secondary post: To the secondary command post go 50 feet farther to room 1207, on the right side. Enter and turn left; antenna drop is behind a closet door marked with "ARES" sticker; it has RG8 cable and PL259 connector, but no radio or power supply. Note: Cables tagged #1 go to the antennas; connect radios to these cables to use them in this room.
Cables tagged #2 go to room 1201 (the Main command post). Couple Yellow Tag #1 to Yellow #2 (144 MHz J-pole), and couple White Tag #1 to White #2 (discone antenna), to make these antennas useable from room 1201.
